For Chessiecon 2022, we failed to make the contracted room block with the hotel. The shortfall we owed the hotel was greater than the TSFS treasury. Danielle Ackley-McPhail setup a GoFundMe and many fans contributed independently.
We worked with the hotel and gradually paid down the shortfall. In the summer of 2023, our obligation to the Delta Hotel was paid in full. We are grateful for the patience of the management. We are grateful to Danielle and all the fans who pitched in. Special thanks to DISCON III, Carl Cipra, and Chris Cowan for their extraordinary support.
TSFS has done some belt-tightening as well. We are still far from the amount in our treasury needed to hold another convention, so Chessiecon is on hiatus for 2023.
